Hobbit Helper Applications: Now Open!

Are you ready to roll up yer sleeves, don your finest apron and lend a hand with some good honest hobbit graft? Well then, now’s yer chance! Hobbit Helper applications are officially OPEN and will be accepted until Friday 26th April at 9PM sharp (as a thistle!)


What’s Involved in Being a Hobbit Helper?

Being a Hobbit Helper means actively participating in making our event unforgettable and sharing the load of all of that comes with running an event. Here’s what you can expect:

Arriving for Setup and Pack Down

You'll kick off your helping on Thursday evening, arriving on site to help first thing Friday morning before the game starts midday. You'll also be helping pack down again Sunday afternoon after the game ends.

Catering and Food Showcases

Nothing is more vital to a hobbit LARP than heaps of food — and plenty of it! As a Helper, you’ll be rostered on for at least two meals over the course of the event, lending a hand to our fine catering folk with serving or helping with the showcase display of the tasty creations brought in by our clever attendees. You might also find yourself washing a few platters or trays between rounds — after all, all those meals are bound to leave a bit of mess!

Pitching In as Needed

Flexibility is key! You may assist in unexpected areas, from hanging bunting to ringing the post officer bell. Running an event is always exciting and the unexpected can pop up. Flexibility and putting your hand up to help is what makes the finest of Hobbit Helpers.


Why Apply to Be a Hobbit Helper?

We know the faces that’ve pitched in, washing dishes without being asked or helping us frantically pack down, year after year, out of the goodness of their hearts — and we believe that kind of kindness ought to be appreciated.

Hobbit helper tickets will be only $150.00 for the whole event.

Becoming a Hobbit Helper is our way of giving a little something back to those who don’t mind sacrificing a bit of their own game time to help the Hoedown run smooth as butter. It’s a thank you — in the form of a lighter ticket price — for folks willing to give back to the magic that makes our hobbit gathering so special.


How to Apply

Its easy! We've opened up our application form for you to complete before we close it at 9pm April 26th.

Sadly, we can’t have the whole village lending a hand (no matter how much we'd like to!), so helper spots are limited.

But fret not — every hobbit who applies will hear back from us, one way or the other, before tickets go on sale to the general public on the 10th May.

Successful applicants will be notified by May 3rd at the latest and will be asked to purchase their specific helper ticket prior to general ticket sales - make sure you've picked out your family prior!
