Creating your Hobbit
Character Creation can be a bit of an art in itself, however, this game allows you to have both an in-depth or a more ‘bare bones’ approach to your own Hobbit character to play in the game. We've created a very helpful character sheet that asks plenty of prompts that will help you develop and create a character to play. If you need some help, simply ask in the Facebook event groups! (After ticket sales release, groups specific to families can be created for the current ticketed group of that year).
Admins & fellow players alike would be happy to help guide you or create familiar ties with your character to give more depth and comfort in roleplay. The basics like your character’s name, family and general disposition should be all you need to play a fulfilling game with your hobbit family and friends!

Higgleby Family
Personality:
For all Hobbits, life is something to be
enjoyed; the Higglebys in this instance are philosophers of Hobbit life. Seldom do they take much of anything very seriously. This irreverence applies to rules and competitions as well, and few things are more appealing to a Higgleby than the sound of raucous laughter. Thus, it’s not unusual that Higglebys put the most effort into pranks, jokes, and absurd schemes. Whilst this does make Higglebys prone to laziness and complacency, they make up for it in mirthful company. You can trust a Higgleby, they are a fast friend for life-- but do mind your chess board.
Reputation:
The Higglebys are known as friendly, practical jokers and tellers of (tall) tales. Despite their reputation as tricksters, they are good sports when they lose. So long as everyone is having fun, the Higglebys are happy. Whilst a lot of Hobbits might think them layabouts and wastrels, they know also that a Higgleby has a generous soul.
Where do Higglebys Come From?
The Higgleby's live in the South of the County in Barkhollow, a warren that is somewhat like a communal underground longhouse with interconnected family dwellings. The warren has been built and expanded in a piecemeal and haphazard way, resulting in a patchwork construction with lots of recycled, repaired or repurposed things laying around and decorating the space.
Notes on Roleplay:
-
“Winning” is not always the aim
-
Play to maximise fun & warmth
-
Teasing for fun is still exercising kindness (don’t be mean)
-
There’s nothing like a good story!
-
Enthusiastically include others!
-
If you’re low on social battery, indulge the Higgleby’s relaxed side and give yourself a rest
Values:
Affability, humour & daring.
Prone To:
Laziness, cheating & teasing.
Hobbit Likeness:
Meriadoc “Merry” Brandybuck & Peregrin “Pippin” Took
Family Colour:
Red

"Bophin "Bof" Higgleby (he/him) is a lover of flowers by trade and a good craft on the side! Ever the goofy little guy, you can usually find him joining in (and not fully concentrating at) a game with other hobbits or finding a crafty way of preserving nature's beauty!"
Aunt Nesbit Higgleby
Played by: Em C
.png)
"Aunt Nesbit Higgleby (she/her) appears to be rather quiet, until she needs to get a hobbit's attention. Easily won over with tea, biscuits, or the promise of some good hearted mischief, she will happily tell stories til the cows come home... and then she'll tell them to the cows!"

Personality:
What is gold to a Hobbit when they have good company, food and their health? A Tallows is masterful at expressing this from the time they are babes. They will rarely cook or create the same thing twice and, whilst they are unambitious, they are adventurous in their experimentation, their exciting tastes leading the way. Tallows are happy to venture frontiers and make happy mistakes. They revel in the unexpected undertaking of their fellow Hobbits, cheering them on in their exploits. With a Tallows in tow you can be sure of two things-- adventure is upon you, and your life will never be the same again.
Reputation:
The Tallows penchant for inventiveness can sometimes land them in hot water; not every idea is a good one. Much to the merriment of other Hobbits, they always bring with them a sense of vivacity, thus are wonderful and welcome at any party. However, their thirst for brilliance can find a Tallow being easily hoodwinked.
Where do Tallows Come From?

Personality:
You could be forgiven for thinking that Bluffwaters are quite serious Hobbits, on the contrary; they are delightful company and go to great lengths to show warmth to others. They do not think themselves heroic or brave, or in any way admirable-- except for their steadfast loyalty. Therefore, Bluffwaters tend to show brilliant solidarity when working together. Hobbits are known
for their genuine nature, and Bluffwaters are exemplars of that measure. However, their understanding of fairness can be rigid, and getting into a variance of opinion on matters can show their unyielding disposition. If you were to ever find yourself in the presence of a Bluffwater in the face of a great calamity-- you could count yourself extremely lucky.
Reputation:
Bluffwaters are fantastic to have on your side for all affairs, as they are
exceedingly diligent. Despite their reputation for this, they are lively party-
goers, enthusiastically dancing, playing games and intensely engrossed in
storytelling. Bluffwaters revel in the company of their friends quite utterly.
Where do Bluffwaters Come From?
The Bluffwaters live in the North of the County in the Hamlet of Mosswick in thatched roofed cob cottages, that may sometimes be built into the ground. Although most Bluffwaters live in their own cottage, these hobbits' homes are often built closely to one another. Many Bluffwaters will keep their own garden, with raised garden-beds or meticulously kept vegetable patches.
