Hobbit Families: An Update!

Well now, gather ‘round, pour yourself a cup of tea (or something a touch stronger), and settle in—because we’ve dusted off the old family tomes and added some brand-new pages to the stories of our beloved Hobbits Hoedown families! These updated tales are here to help you feel even more at home in your Hobbit family, with richer roots, quirkier characters, and maybe even a dash more mischief. With tickets going on sale in a weeks time, we thought it only proper to make sure you’ve got all the information you need to choose the right family for you (and your character, of course!).

And that’s not all! This year, we’re also introducing a brand-new annual role to help bring each family even closer together: Family Heads. Each family now has two of these cheerful folk—invited by the organisers for their warm presence and the way they’ve gone above and beyond in previous games to make others feel welcome, included, and part of the magic. Think of them as your go-to Hobbits for support, character silliness, and stories. They’re here to help your family feel like just that—a family.

Tickets will be on sale Saturday May 10th at 5pm (Melbourne Time!)

You'll be able to access the tickets through the link that is scheduled to be emailed, posted and published on the website at exactly 5:00PM - make sure to set an alarm and have your characters family picked out.

FAIRMEADOWS

Where do the Fairmeadows come from?

The Fairmeadows live in the East of the County in the village of Blossombrooke known for its wildflower meadows and freshwater stream flowing through it. These hobbits' homes are built into the flowery hillsides, often featuring gardens growing carefully selected flower arrangements ready to be picked for their next house call.

LACE FAIRMEADOWS

Played by: Mary G
"Whether you’re popping by for a tea party, a bit of lacework from Blossombrooke’s local lace maker, or just a quiet cup by the fire and a kind ear, Lace Fairmeadows (she/they) welcomes hobbits from all over The County with open doors. Hobbits are sure to leave her warm little home with a doily in one hand and a steaming cup of tea in the other for the journey home"

TULIP FAIRMEADOWS

Played by: Sarah E
"You've never met a hobbit with a busier social calendar than Tulip Fairmeadows. Any event round The County that brings her fellow hobbits together in fun and conversation has got her stamp of approval and her attendance."

BLUFFWATER

Where do the Bluffwaters come from?

The Bluffwaters live in the North of the County in the Hamlet of Mosswick in thatched roofed cob cottages, that may sometimes be built into the ground. Although most Bluffwaters live in their own cottage, these hobbits' homes are often built closely to one another. Many Bluffwaters will keep their own garden, with raised garden-beds or meticulously kept vegetable patches.

FLOSSY BLUFFWATER

Played by: Pip C
"Equipped with a cheerful voice and painted ukulele, Flossy Bluffwater (she/her) is here to cheer you on and maybe have a sing-a-long! A lover of cooking, music, and a well crafted spoon, Flossy will heartedly help any hobbit have a happy hoedown"

HEATHER BLUFFWATER

Played by: Jess G
"Heather Bluffwater (she/her) is a twin, a younger sister, and an older sister, so she has several reputations to uphold while she dashes about! For someone who isn't a very accomplished baker, Heather somehow ends up with her fingers in a lot of pies... but luckily she is remarkably good at winning folks over if she gets caught."

TALLOWS

Where do the Tallows come from?

The Tallows live in the West of the County in Oakenburrow, a forest where these hobbits' homes are burrowed in various oak tree roots underground. The oldest and biggest tree is centred in the middle of Oakenburrow forest and is a communal burrow for gatherings, music sessions and other special occasions, like a town hall!

RUDIGAR (RUDDY) TALLOWS

Played by: Murnong D
Rudigar Tallows (he/him). Forgetful old fellow, always a warm friendly first meeting and introduction from Old Uncle Ruddy, which could in fact be your seventh first-meeting. Singing songs n telling tales under the great Oak or just wanderin' the trails of Oakenburrow. Join him in a song and watch him smile. Crafter of many a fine object from his local oaks. 'How does that sound for a blurb, Fymble me lad?... where'd I put my glasses?"

FYMBLE TALLOWS

Played by: Kal J
"Fymble Tallows (he/him) is bright-eyed and big-smiled, and can eat his weight in sweets and savouries. Always on the lookout for a game to play, a song to learn, or wherever Uncle Ruddy has wandered off to. Want to send a letter to a friend/cousin/parent/Aunt Ada? Use Fymble Tallows Paper!"

HIGGLEBY

Where do the Higgleby's come from?

The Higgleby's live in the South of the County in Barkhollow, a warren that is somewhat like a communal underground longhouse with interconnected family dwellings. The warren has been built and expanded in a piecemeal and haphazard way, resulting in a patchwork construction with lots of recycled, repaired or repurposed things laying around and decorating the space.

BOFFIN (BOF) HIGGLEBY

Played by: Alex T
"Bophin "Bof" Higgleby (he/him) is a lover of flowers by trade and a good craft on the side! Ever the goofy little guy, you can usually find him joining in (and not fully concentrating at) a game with other hobbits or finding a crafty way of preserving nature's beauty!"

AUNT NESBIT HIGGLEBY

Played by: Em C
"Aunt Nesbit Higgleby (she/her) appears to be rather quiet, until she needs to get a hobbit's attention. Easily won over with tea, biscuits, or the promise of some good hearted mischief, she will happily tell stories til the cows come home... and then she'll tell them to the cows!"

With Our Warmest Regards,

The Committee of Perfectly Planned Party Proceedings
